Removal of metal ions from water using oxygen plasma

چکیده
Abstract Zinc ion dissolved in water is attempted to be removed by generating the oxides of zinc using oxygen gas dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma system. The removal rate oxides’ production (ZnO and Zn(OH) 2 ) are measured at different treatment periods penetration water. deposit increases initially then decreases with period. maximum (29%) from achieved period 10 min, where pH lower (7.4). From FTIR generation properties oxide can recognized. Initially amount ozone due both ZnO . After that, 4 2- even when total decreases. Therefore, remove forming metal deposit, active oxygens must controlled keep than around 7.5. Because increasing treated depends on concentration

Kinetic study of heavy metal ions removal from aqueous solutions using activated pumice stone
Background: The presence of heavy metals in aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems causes harmful effects to living organisms in the environment. This research aimed to determine the potential of activated pumice stone (APS) as a sorbent for the removal of Cd, Cu, and Zn from wastewater. Methods: This research was conducted during 2013 on a laboratory scale. The study was performed using batch exp...
متن کاملRemoval of Chromium (VI) metal ions from waste water using alternative adsorbents - A comparative study
Alternative adsorbents like Activated charcoal, modified activated charcoal, wheat bran, activated neem leaf powder and groundnut shell powder were used as adsorbents for effective removal of Cr (VI) ions and thus a comparative study between the adsorbents are presented. Waste water containing Cr (VI) ions was treated with all adsorbents for a calculated amount of time. Further, filtration was ...
متن کاملChitin nanofibrils for rapid and efficient removal of metal ions from water system.
Joint mechanical defibrillation was successfully used to downsize chitin micro-particles (CMP) into nanofibrils without changing its chemical or crystalline structure. The fine chitin nanofibrils (CNF) bearing width of about 50 nm and length of more than 1 μm were then developed as heavy metal ion sorbents. The uptake performance of CNF dependent on pH, ionic concentration, time, and temperatur...
متن کاملHeavy Metal Removal from Water and Wastewater Using Raw and Modified Diatomite (TECHNICAL NOTE)
heavy metal removal from water and wastewater was investigated by using raw and modified diatomite from Iranian mines. Modification of diatomite was done by impregnating the diatomite surface with 0.35 g of manganese oxide in one gram of diatomite. This modified diatomite was named Mn-Diatomite. The surface area measurements for Mn-diatomite showed a 2.2 fold increase, hence higher removal capa...
متن کاملRemoval of heavy metal ions from wastewaters: a review.
Heavy metal pollution has become one of the most serious environmental problems today. The treatment of heavy metals is of special concern due to their recalcitrance and persistence in the environment. In recent years, various methods for heavy metal removal from wastewater have been extensively studied. This paper reviews the current methods that have been used to treat heavy metal wastewater ...
